Welcome to the Coconino County Master Gardeners Association

The Coconino Master Gardener Association began in 2009 to create a corps of well-informed volunteers, and to deliver quality horticultural education programs adapted to our regional high elevation environment. The association provides support for Master Gardener graduates and volunteers as well as continuing education and opportunities to participate in community programs that increase the visibility and participation in the Master Gardener Program.

Rocky Mountain Seed Alliance Newsletter

In Support of Ukrainians

Did you know the national flower of Ukraine is a sunflower? This plant is not native to Ukraine, yet in this connected world, seeds were brought over, adapted, and have become so prolific that they now represent an entire nation. A nation that is now a major producer of sunflower oil worldwide.

Although we feel far away from the disparaging events unfolding in Europe, we live in a globalized world. Ukraine is one of the largest exporters of corn and wheat, staple crops which many countries rely upon. With Ukraine's grain supply affected, Ukrainians and the most food-vulnerable communities will quickly be at risk of food shortages.

As seed-people, we are fortunate to regularly experience the connection of community and sharing. We can show our support for the people of Ukraine in several ways: donations, refugee support, aid, medical, and more. Below are several organizations helping Ukraine during these unsettling times:

UNICEF  Help Ukraine Emergency Appeal
CARE  Doctors Without Borders
Project HOPE Sunflowers for Peace
UN Refugee Agency International Medical Corps
Voice of ChildrenInternational Committee of the Red Cross
