Sustainability Leaders are community champions trained in all things related to climate change and sustainability. They work within our community to educated and empower people to make more sustainable choices.

Learn from experts

Join 30 sustainability enthusiasts in an intensive eight-week course that features industry experts and tours of local waste facilities. You'll learn about:
  • Community sustainability, consumption, and climate change
  • Sustainable behavior change
  • Climate justice: equity, vulnerability, & collective action
  • Recycling, food waste, and composting
  • Protecting Flagstaff’s open spaces
  • Water and energy efficiency
  • Transportation & sustainable routines

Make a difference

After gaining in-depth knowledge of the climate and sustainability issues impacting Flagstaff, you'll join a growing community of other Sustainability Leaders who volunteer to share their knowledge with the rest of the community

Your commitment

In order to receive your Sustainability Leaders certification, volunteer 30 hours to inspire change in your community. You can do this by staffing information booths at community events, festivals, and farmers markets, or help with projects like fix-it clinics, event sustainability, and improving recycling at your place of work, school, or worship. 

When: Thursdays, February 6-April 19, 5:30-8:30pm
Not all classes will utilize the full three hour time period and may get out early.
Participants must attend 8 of the 11 scheduled classes.
