Welcome to the Coconino County Master Gardeners Association

The Coconino Master Gardener Association began in 2009 to create a corps of well-informed volunteers, and to deliver quality horticultural education programs adapted to our regional high elevation environment. The association provides support for Master Gardener graduates and volunteers as well as continuing education and opportunities to participate in community programs that increase the visibility and participation in the Master Gardener Program.

High Country Humane Looking for Volunteer Pruning Help

High Country Humane has a large number of Apache Plume and Rabbit Brush on our property and these shrubs have shown they can thrive despite years of total neglect and have now grown enormously large and have tons of dead wood underneath them where new growth has shaded those branches.

We would greatly appreciate having a few Master Gardener volunteers willing to help us prune out the dead branches and do some shaping of these shrubs so our property is as well cared for outside, as the animals residing inside the shelter.

Work dates are Saturdays, May 8th and May 22nd, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.  Please bring your own hand pruners and loppers as the shelter does not have tools, yet.  Gloves, water, sunscreen, etc. are also advised.  (and if you have extra pruning gear or saws, we could use those as well).

We will meet up in the Shelter’s back parking lot (third drive on the right as you drive down Black Bill Road).  The shelter will be closed so we can’t park in the front lot.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kathie Satterfield, 619-857-4562, k.satterfield@gmx.com

Directions:  Take Hwy 89 north (from the Country Club exit on I-40), past Silver Saddle.  We are a short distance past the Chevron Station at Campbell Ave. on the right.  You will turn right onto Black Bill Rd.  Our address: 11665 N US Highway 89, Flagstaff 86004
