The Beauty of Grasses
Day: Saturday,Oct.9 | Time: 9:30 – 12:30 PM | Fee: $25 members /$30 nonmembers (materials included)
Join Arboretum Research Botanist Sheila Murray for a class that focuses on grass identification as well as making straw ornaments. Tour the gardens and learn how to identify native and not-native species of grasses. Participants will collect grasses and create Scandinavian inspired straw ornaments for the holidays.
Pine Needle Basketry
Day: Saturday, Oct. 9| Time: 1:30 – 4:30 PM | Fee: $25 members /$30 nonmembers (materials included)
Crafter/artist Dawn Moffet of Clarkdale, AZ will teach particpants some basic weaving techniques that can be used to turn the ponderosa pine needles littering your yard into lovely baskets.
Dyeing for Yarn
Day: Saturday, Oct. 23| Time: 9:30 – 12:30 PM | Fee: $25 members /$30 nonmembers ($10 materials fee)
Prepare natural dyes from native plants with instructor Katie Flint. Participants will prepare natural wool in a variety of colors and learn basic crocheting techniques to begin granny squares for scarves, blankets, etc.
Art of the Gourd
Day: Saturday, Oct. 23| Time: 1:30 – 4:30 PM | Fee: $25 members /$30 nonmembers ($10 materials fee)
Find out how you can turn a squash into a work of art. Dawn Moffet will guide the class through the process of cleaning the outside and inside of a full-sized gourd. She will also demonstrate a variety of media that can be used for decoration. Participants and practice techniques on gourd ornaments.

Welcome to the Coconino County Master Gardeners Association
The Coconino Master Gardener Association began in 2009 to create a corps of well-informed volunteers, and to deliver quality horticultural education programs adapted to our regional high elevation environment. The association provides support for Master Gardener graduates and volunteers as well as continuing education and opportunities to participate in community programs that increase the visibility and participation in the Master Gardener Program.
Monthly meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church 1601 N. San Francisco St. in Flagstaff, Arizona.
