Welcome to the Coconino County Master Gardeners Association

The Coconino Master Gardener Association began in 2009 to create a corps of well-informed volunteers, and to deliver quality horticultural education programs adapted to our regional high elevation environment. The association provides support for Master Gardener graduates and volunteers as well as continuing education and opportunities to participate in community programs that increase the visibility and participation in the Master Gardener Program.


Monthly meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Urban Orchard and Farming

 The Urban Agriculture & Beginning Farmer Program

Urban Ag Field Days are peer-learning and networking opportunities initiated by the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension's Urban Agriculture Production, Small-Scale, and Beginning Farmer Program in collaboration with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and Farm Service Agency.

Interested in urban and small-scale agriculture? How about agroforestry in Arizona? Come learn from an array of expertise at our Urban Orchards and Farming Field Day! Participants will tour two sites on which experienced urban farmers Steve Miller and Sandy Lockwood produce local fruit; "The Farm" and "The Orchard", which offer unique micro-climates for production in an urban environment. 

$25 to attend; Scholarships are awarded on an needs-basis - please email Cmhanley@arizona.edu

Native Plant Society Social Meeting

There is a social meeting Friday, Aug. 11 from 4 - 6 PM at the Museum of Northern Arizona.

There will be a native seed swap, native plant swap, botany book swap and pot luck. It will be on the research center side of the museum.  For directions, see the attached flyer.

Our Mushroom and Fungi workshop with Mike Dechter on July 29th, is full. This presentation* will be for those with incidental knowledge and curiosity about fungi. Mike will present on some fungi 101 - what are fungi and why are they important? He will also discuss basic mushroom anatomy, and identification of wild mushrooms. The last part of the presentation focuses on our Arizona Fab 4 Fungi - 4 easy to ID, edible wild mushrooms that grow here in northern Arizona. To get on the waitlist visit our website

Worm Composting 

Join Willow Bend and the City of Flagstaff Sustainability Office for two upcoming worm composting workshops!
July 25th 5:30-6:30PM at the Willow Bend Center. This workshop will focus on starting your own worm bin at home, trouble shooting a worm bin, what can worms eat etc. Materials, including worms, to start your own worm bin will be provided. Sign-up required. 
July 27th 10-11AM at the Bonito Community Graden. This is a family focused program with hands on activities, games and songs to help kids learn about the wonders of worms. More information and sign up on our website

Events and materials are free and provided through the City of Flagstaff Sustainability Office. 
Space is limited and sign-up is required.

Start sale - Forestdale Farms

 

Self-serve seedling sale this week! Monday-Saturday 9a-3p🌱

Come grab any last minute starts for your garden!

🌻When: Monday-Saturday, June 12th-17th, 9a-3p
🌻Where: Forestdale Farm (455 S Beech Drive) in Flagstaff
🌻Who: Open to the public
🌻What: Seedling and garden starts! Over the years, we have experimented with and grow varieties that do well in our short growing season.

🌻Other Notes:
-We have set up a self serve area for purchasing seedlings in our large greenhouse.  All plants are for sale and there are signs and prices on them. Bring cash and grab what you need!
- We can accept credit cards but prefer cash
- Bring boxes/carry trays for transporting starts home
- Please do not use our neighbor’s driveway to turn around (you can use our driveway or continue around the block to get out by continuing on Beech; right on Cottonwood; right on Ash which takes you back to Herold Ranch Rd)
