Congratulations to Pinon Garden!
Pinon Community Garden received a Neighborhood Sustainability Grant from the City of Flagstaff! The $2,000 received will go towards the installation of water-conserving drip irrigation, a community bulletin board, and plant ID tags. The garden was recently planted with low water native and herbaceous plants as well as a small orchard of plum, apple, and cherry trees. The irrigation was set up on two zones so that the native and perennial plants, once established, will no longer require supplemental water (except during periods of extreme drought). The orchard trees were planted in a low lying area with greater access to seasonal water/moist soil.
