Verde Valley Seed Library

-
A Seed Library is Coming to the Verde Valley!
-
Last May, the first International Seed Library Forum was held in Tucson. Many states and eight foreign countries were represented at the three-day event. Richard Sidy, president of Gardens for Humanity, and Janice Montgomery, of the  Verde Thumbs Garden Club attended and came back excited about starting a program here.

Janice Montgomery and her co-chair Kathie Knapp found a receptive librarian  and broad support for the concept in Cottonwood. The new seed library, called the "Verde Valley Seed Library" will open its doors at the Cottonwood Public Library on September 12, and will serve communities in the Verde Valley.

In preparation and as part of this new addition to the library, classes in seed saving will be held on a regular basis starting on August 15, 10:30am-12:30pm.
