Welcome to the Coconino County Master Gardeners Association

The Coconino Master Gardener Association began in 2009 to create a corps of well-informed volunteers, and to deliver quality horticultural education programs adapted to our regional high elevation environment. The association provides support for Master Gardener graduates and volunteers as well as continuing education and opportunities to participate in community programs that increase the visibility and participation in the Master Gardener Program.


Monthly meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church
1601 N. San Francisco St. in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Keep Sedona Beautiful Lecture Series

Join us on Wednesday, September 9th for the first preserntation in this season's speaker line-up featuring Nicole Branton, Red Rock District Ranger of the Coconino National Forest.  The title of her presentation is "Mudslides, Waterfalls, and Sustainable Recreation:  The Year in Good Work and Tough Problems on the Red Rock Ranger District."

Fossil BridgeThe Red Rock Ranger District averages 2 million visitors per year and is located in a landscape populated with numerous threatened and endangered species, archaeological sites, and fragile soils.  It is also home to the largest volunteer program in the National Forest System.

Nicole will discuss the challenges the Forest Service faces in dealing with all of these tough problems.

Please note that the Forest Service does not have an opinion on the proposal for the Red Rock National Monument and that this subject will not be discussed.
  
The evening includes complimentary appetizers donated by El Rincon Restaurante Mexicano and refreshments provided by Keep Sedona Beautiful (KSB).

Flagstaff Home and Garden Show

The Coconino Master Gardeners are again participating in The Flagstaff Home and Garden Show. It will begin on Friday the 28th of March and continue through Sunday the 30th. We will have a large booth with lots of educational gardening information as well as 14 talks over 3 days. All talks are free with admission to the home show. Attached is a link to the schedule.

AZNPS Botany Conference



You are invited to attend the Tenth Arizona Botany Meeting, hosted by the Desert Botanical Garden (DBG) and the Arizona Native Plant Society. This year’s theme is “Habitat and Rare Plant Conservation”. 

The main meeting will be held at DBG in Dorrance Hall on Saturday, March 30 th, 2013, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. 


Our continuing goal is to foster a spirit of cooperation for the sharing of ideas among and facilitating collaboration between individuals from academic institutions, local, state, and federal government agencies, and non-governmental organizations from across the state of Arizona, and to provide a forum to meet others who share an interest in the flora of Arizona and surrounding areas within the Southwest.

Watch your local paper and other advertising for the upcoming yearly home and garden show. The Master Gardener Program and the Coconino Master Gardener Association will be manning a large booth with information and providing speakers for all 3 days.

Flagstaff Home & Garden Show

The Coconino MG Association is participating in this years Home & Garden show which will be from March 25th through the 27th. Because of remodeling at the Snow Dome it will be at the old K-Mart store on 4th street. The Association will have a variety of garden talks over the 3 days.
