Welcome to the Coconino County Master Gardeners Association blog. The mission of the Master Gardener Program is to create a corps of well-informed volunteers, and to deliver quality horticultural education programs adapted to our regional high elevation environment. The purpose of the association is to provide support for those volunteers and Master Gardener graduates, continuing education, and opportunities to participate in community programs that increase the visibility and participation in the Master Gardener Program.

-How to contact Board or Committee Members
Meetings are held monthly on the 2nd Thursday from 600pm - 8;30pm. We meet at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church at 1601 N. San Francisco. This includes continuing education and a business meeting.

Reporting Master Gardener Hours

All master gardener trainees and certified master gardeners need to report their hours.
Beginning in 2010 certified master gardeners need to have 6 Education hours and 12 Volunteer hours in order to maintain certification. The on line reporting system allows you to report Education or Volunteer hours. You can sign in to record hours in the right hand column under Recording Volunteer and Education Hours. Just click on the U. of A.
If you have any questions or concerns about the new reporting system, please contact Brenda Smith (A - M) or Sue Madden (N - Z). Their contacts are listed at the bottom of the blog under
Contacts.

Ideas for hours------
--Attend monthly meetings

Spring Volunteering at the Arboretum

Looking for an opportunity to volunteer? Here is a note from the Arboretum's director. I have also added a link for the volunteer application and Covid 19 protocols.

Happy Spring Volunteers!

Below you will find some up and coming volunteer opportunities at The Arboretum. But before you get too revved up…here are a few general requests.

COVID-19 Pre-cautions: We are so excited to have you back, but we do request that everyone still practice social distancing when possible and wear a mask when in close contact with others or when indoors. Thank you for keeping The Arb a safe place to relax and enjoy! Our official policy is also attached.

If you are new to volunteering, please fill out the attached volunteer form and return to me at: Kristin.Haskins@thearb.org or you can snail mail it in to this address: The Arboretum at Flagstaff, 4001 S. Woody Mountain Rd., Flagstaff, AZ 86005. Attn: Kristin Haskins, or you can deliver it in person the first time you come out!

We ask that each of you fill out a volunteer time sheet so we can give credit where credit is due at the end of the season. Your volunteer hours are important for us to track and record for various granting agencies. Volunteer log-in books can be found in the Hort Center and at the front desk of the Visitor Center. If you begin volunteering before we open, please keep track of your hours on the attached spreadsheet.

I have also attached our 2021 COVID-19 Policy.

With appreciation,
Kris Haskins, Executive Director
