AZ Native Plant Society is gearing up for the season: First meeting tomorrow!

Tuesday, March 19 will be the first monthly meeting of 2013. For AZNPS. This year there is a NEW LOCATION:  Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 1601 N. San Francisco Street.  Easy to find.  Easy to park.  The meetings are free and open to the public, so bring all your friends.  
 
Elizabeth Johnson will speak about "Love Blossoms at 11,000 Feet: A Story of Hybridization in the San Francisco Peaks Groundsel".  
 
Elizabeth Johnson is a Master's Degree candidate in the Biology Department at Northern Arizona University.  She will present on the hybridization of the San Francisco Peaks Groundsel (Packera franciscana) with its lower elevation relative the Hoary Groundsel (P. werneriifolia).  The San Francisco Peaks Groundsel is a rare and threatened dwarf perennial, growing only on the alpine and sub alpine slopes of the San Francisco Peaks.  She will discuss both the molecular and morphological work used to detect this hybridization.  
 
Sunday walks will begin in April.
